OUR PROGRAMMES:
SCHOLARSHIPS & FELLOWSHIPS

Fellowship Programme

The Scholar of Peace Fellowship Programme, administered by the WISCOMP initiative, encourages innovative, multi-disciplinary, theoretical engagement and research on issues that emerge at the intersection of the discourses on gender, security and conflict transformation. The Fellowships are seen as an important step to encourage more women to work in these crucial areas, and are open to men who seek to bring important gender perspectives to their work on security, conflict and peace issues. The studies undertaken are expected to provide comprehensive information on hitherto ignored issues that pertain to conflict and security. The emphasis is on the potential of research/praxis to impact and catalyze change in such settings of tension and violence.

The Scholar of Peace Fellowships are awarded under three categories: Academic Research, Media Projects and Special Projects. The awards cover periods ranging from three months to one year. The Program is ordinarily open to South Asians under the age of 45. Applicants may come from a variety of professional backgrounds including academia, social movements, gender studies, peacebuilding, diplomacy, human rights, defense, law, business, media and the arts.

Tibetan Scholarship Programme

As part of its efforts to support the professional development of the next generation of Tibetan professionals and decision makers, FUR has instituted a Scholarship programme for graduate and undergraduate students. Special scholarships are also awarded for the advancement of Tibetan school children. This component of the scholarship supports the complete schooling of Tibetan youth in first class institutions across India.

The Tibetan Scholarship Prgramme provides an opportunity to motivated Tibetan youth, for the pursuit of professional degrees in reputed institutions of higher education in India. These include the Indian Institutes of Technology, the Indian Institutes of Management and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

The Scholarship covers the costs of the degree programme as well as financial support and guidance from the coaching to the examination. The Programme awards between five and ten scholarships to Tibetan students each year.
