Dr. Susan Bauer-Wu is currently an Associate Professor of Nursing and Distinguished Cancer Scholar at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and was previously Instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. She is a researcher, clinician, and educator whose work focuses on understanding the science of the mind-body connection and on enhancing quality of life for individuals affected by serious illness especially cancer. She is particularly interested in the clinical application of meditation and its effects on the brain, immune system, and other body functions. She has received numerous professional honors and awards and significant research funding from the National Institutes of Health and other major foundations in the USA. Her teaching interests include the use of contemplative and self care practices for professional and family caregivers to foster resiliency and improve care.
